Adaptive Sports

Are you interested in participating in an adapted sports program? Would you like to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle through fitness? Maybe you’re looking to make new friends, socialize or just have fun! Then join the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan Foundation’s SportsAbility program.

RIM Foundation’s SportsAbility program provides competitive and recreational sporting opportunities for persons with disabilities.

SportsAbility members have an opportunity to participate in a number of activities including:

•    Wheelchair Basketball 

•    Wheelchair Ballroom Dancing
•    Fitness Training
•    Adaptive Bowling
•    Hand cycling clinics
•    Adaptive Waterskiing
•    Kayaking
•    Adaptive snow skiing
•    Wheelchair tennis clinics
•    Weightlifting clinics

•    Tai Chi

•    Yoga

 

RIM’s Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialists (CTRS) assist with the formation of teams, clinics, training, and equipment adaptations.

SportsAbility is open to children and adults throughout Metro Detroit with disabling or chronic conditions including spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputation, stroke, spina bifida, multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy.
